Search ends for missing teenager called endangered by South Carolina police

The search for a missing South Carolina teenager considered to be in danger has ended.

Aiden Taylor was located and called safe, according to the Camden Police Department. Information about when and where Taylor was found was not available.

Taylor publicly reported missing by police Monday. Before he went missing, the 16-year-old was last seen in the Sunny Hill area of Camden, police said in a news release.

Information about when Taylor was last seen, and by whom, was not available. Police said he was last seen on foot, but there was no word about what direction he was walking.

There was no word if Taylor was considered a runaway, or if he was alone when he was last seen. Police did not say if foul play was suspected in Taylor’s disappearance.

Police called Taylor a “missing endangered person,” but information about why he was considered to be in danger was not available.

“We want to express our sincere thanks to the citizens of Camden and Kershaw County for your vigilance, support, and willingness to share information quickly. Your efforts truly made a difference,” Police Chief Jack Rushing said in the release.”

Rushing thanked multiple other agencies for their help, including:

Kershaw County Sheriff’s Office

South Carolina Department of Natural Resources

Kershaw County Emergency Services

Richland County Sheriff’s Department

CSX Police Department

Amtrak Police Department

“Your collaboration and commitment to public safety are deeply appreciated,” Rushing said. “This was a true community effort, and we are thankful for the positive outcome.”
