Two Columbia locations of a national pizza chain have closed.

The Blaze Pizza shops at 275 Park Terrace Drive in the Harbison shopping area and at 471-1 Town Center Place at the Village at Sandhill are each closed. There were signs posted on the doors of the locations indicating the closures when a reporter stopped by each on Tuesday morning.

“To our loyal Columbia customers, we have proudly served you our fast-fired pizzas for the last 9 years,” the signs read at each restaurant. “Unfortunately, this location will be closing September 1. Thank you for all your support and patronage!”

Each of the Columbia Blaze locations were located in well-known retail districts. The Harbison area is perhaps the Midlands’ busiest retail area, with the Columbiana Centre mall and scores of other national stores, restaurants, theaters and more in the area. And the Village at Sandhill has been a key shopping hub in northeast Columbia.

There are about 300 Blaze Pizza locations across the U.S., according to data website ScrapeHero. The company is known for fast-fired 11-inch pizzas, and letting diners customize their pies with their preferred toppings.

The only remaining Blaze in South Carolina, according to the store locator tool on the company’s website, is in Boiling Springs.
