A trend that has taken the internet by storm is getting a new spin thanks to some creative users — and men are first in line for the chopping block.

The popular 100 men vs. 1 gorilla trend stems from the question that keeps popping up on social media platforms: Who would win in a fight, 100 men or one gorilla?

Although some of these men believe they may have been warriors in their past lives and would prevail in the battle against a silverback, others aren’t so sure.

Even though the internet seems to be split on who would be crowned the winner, users tapped into their imaginations to quickly spin a new version of the trend.

Social media users were ready to challenge men to what they believe might be even scarier to the male species than the world’s largest primate: things like expressing emotions and accountability.

Some are even coming for men and their ability to say “I’m sorry,” according to the April 29 post on X by user @Am_yers.

But users didn’t stop at that. They’re challenging 100 men to fight emotional intelligence, going to therapy and even getting tested for sexually transmitted diseases.

One TikToker even posted a video that had TikTok wondering “how these men are surviving on their own.”

“How about 100 men versus a reasonable Instacart substitution,” a user known as @Delamomanny said in an April 26 TikTok.

Commenters were quick to share anecdotes about how many have already failed in that fight, with one person commenting, “I got tomato paste instead of pico de gallo.”

“I wanted imitation crab food not seafood flavored cat food,” someone wrote.

“I was told the entire store was out of rice.. zero rice to be found.. in any form,” someone said.

“I hate to admit but 100 men are NOT beating the bad Instacart shopper allegations,” one person said.

Another user took to TikTok to share her take on the trend and what she’d like to see men go up against.

“I wanna see 100 men vs. a critical thought, 100 men vs. the concept of empathy, 100 men vs. the idea that women can do a job better than they can systemically, but sure go to the gorilla,” user known as @Rebmasel said in a video that’s been seen over 4 million times as of May 1.

The ideas continued to flow, with one person commenting, “100 men vs the concept of monogamy.”

“100 men vs a polite rejection,” another wrote.

“100 men vs. self reflection,” someone said.

Although the original trend began with a gorilla, many users are in agreement that men are “talking about fighting a gorilla when they need to be fighting their demons.”
