8 kittens rescued after being found stuffed in crate in sweltering temperatures
A group of helpless kittens are on the mend after they were stuffed into a small crate and left in high temperatures outside of a Pennsylvania shelter.
Eight kittens were left overnight outside the Kitten Scoop in Greensburg, the shelter said in a July 23 Facebook video. The footage showed the tiny babies with their faces smooshed against the front of the camper, “covered in poop and fly larvae.”
The kittens were brought inside, and the video shows them coming out of the crate one by one, each covered in filth and crust.
Despite that, the kittens appear to be curious as they emerge. Next up were their baths, where it was discovered one was covered in some sort of glue.
“It’s 90 degrees out,” a caption in the video read. “Had I not stopped, who knows what would have happened.”
Amanda Coats, the president of Kitten Scoop, was the one who discovered the babies, WTAE reported.
“We started out with some baths,” Coats told WTAE. “We did some intakes and some combo testing and bedding here at the shelter, vaccines, got rid of the fleas and here we are. Some of them have extra toes. They’re so cute.”
The kittens are currently being treated for their ailments and are not up for adoption just yet.
“Don’t worry kids, we got you,” the video caption said.
Greensburg is about a 35-mile drive southeast from Pittsburgh.
