Off-grid mountain ranch for sale in CO holds a secret — art from Burning Man
A hidden gem within the depths of the Rocky Mountains in Gypsum, Colorado, sits a desert secret — but miles away from any desert.
The Royal Elk Ranch is an off-grid wonderland with 2,017 acres and more than a few surprises awaiting throughout the property.
“Asking $14 million, this extraordinary holding redefines mountain living by blending high-end seclusion with counter-cultural artistic freedom,” a news release on the property says.
“Beyond the impressive acreage, private ski runs, and year-round recreational opportunities, the ranch features well-appointed, off-grid accommodations alongside original, world-renowned installations from Burning Man, creating an exclusive high-desert spiritual retreat deep in the Rockies.”
That’s right, Burning Man — the week-long art, community, self-expression gathering in the Black Rock Desert of Nevada that’s held annually. One of the most notable aspects of the big old desert party are the art installations.
But do they come with the price of the ranch?
Yes and no — while they aren’t built in with the sale price, they are negotiable, the listing on Hall and Hall says.
Other features of the ranch include:
- Views upon views
- Hunting
- Cabin
- Toy barn
- Yurt
There are so very many high-end amenities across the property, but according to the listing, the real heart of the ranch is those private ski runs.
“At the core of the property are the ranch’s ski runs, which begin on ridge tops and descend through aspen and oak-covered slopes. The lower eastern elevations of the property are a balance of open meadow, aspen stands and oak forest,” the listing says.
The listing is held by Cody Lujan.
Gypsum is about a 65-mile drive north from Aspen.
