Body of woman arrested a week before is found in cardboard box, AZ cops say
A property owner found a box containing a dead woman while checking his Arizona property, officials said.
On Sept. 5, a man found a cardboard box on his property and called the police, leading to a homicide investigation, according to an Oct. 3 Facebook post by the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office.
A witness nearby told deputies that he “had observed a vehicle near the (property) with the trunk open the night prior, but it was dark outside, and he could not identify the vehicle,” according to the sheriff’s office.
After fingerprints were taken from the body, the body was identified as 57-year-old Carolyn Ann Bosher, a Nevada woman who’d been arrested on charges of indecent exposure six days before her body was found, deputies said.
“There’s nothing that indicates she was killed on scene,” Anita Mortensen, public information specialist with the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office, told AZ Family. “The manner in which she was located indicates that it was very brutal.”
Although the killing happened in September, officers are just now releasing information to the public.
Bosher’s sister, Suzanne Staton, learned about it through the news, she told AZ Family.
“I’m in disbelief. I don’t want to believe that it’s her,” said Suzanne Staton. “I have so many questions, like how did she end up in Arizona?”
The investigation remains ongoing and anyone with information is asked to call 928-753-0753, officials said.
Mohave County is about a 180-mile drive northwest from Phoenix.
