Didn’t see this coming: Tying balloons to roadkill is apparently a thing now
This right here is what you call adding insult to mortal injury.
On Thursday morning, a man came across a roadkill raccoon lying in a bike lane in south Boulder, Colo.
According to Sara Kuta of The Daily Camera, city workers saw the man drive up in a van, tie a “Get Well Soon” helium balloon to the poor animal, then take a photo.
Then, other people stopped to take pictures, too.
Dunno what's worse, the raccoon or me creepily standing nearby watching people take photos of it.

A girl just said to me "Wow Boulder must be super lame for this to be news."

She said this as she was pulling over in her car and taking a photo of a dead raccoon.

“It’s a little disturbing,” city worker Kaylen Hollis told Kuta.
Apparently tying balloons to roadkill of all ilk is a “thing,” as seen in other social media posts floating around out there.

Just saw a roadkill deer on the side of the road with a "Happy Birthday" balloon tied to its leg. Only in Southern Indiana.

Pinterest, is this your doing?
My mom has been hysterically laughing for 5 minutes bc there's a Pinterest post where someone tied a "get well soon" ballon to roadkill?¿

Maybe there’s a point other than cheap laughs?
Tying a party ballon to the jutting leg of a roadkill deer is a gruesomely comic way to make it more visible to passing cars.

If no one else will say it, we will.
Rest in peace, little guy.
