Special prosecutor David Pascoe went to pains Wednesday to draw a connection between S.C. Attorney General Alan Wilson and the “corrupt” Rick and Richard Quinn.

Wilson long has relied on Richard Quinn for political strategy and to run his campaigns.

But Pascoe cast a darker relationship.

For instance, at one point, Wilson engaged the Quinns to draft a press release announcing that the GOP attorney general from Lexington had fired Pascoe, who is running the investigation into State House corruption.

"The defendant who is mentioned in the SLED report (that led to the State House corruption investigation) is helping draft a press release ... for the AG” to fire him, Pascoe marveled.

Pascoe told Circuit Court Judge Carmen Mullen that both he and SLED tried on several occasions to get the attorney general’s office to take over the corruption investigation. “Now, we know why they wouldn't," Pascoe added.

"There has been no one more corrupt than Rick Quinn up there in Columbia, and no entity more corrupt that RQA."
