A “dreamy” treehouse has the top-ranked new Airbnb hosts in North Carolina — so get ready to enjoy the outdoors.

Beacon Treehouse received the highest mark after making an impression on guests within months of opening, short-term rental company Airbnb said on Wednesday, Nov. 17.

The treehouse, located in the mountain town of Hendersonville, offers opportunities to relax while being close enough to shops and outdoor recreational activities, according to an online listing.

“You’ll have your very own treehouse, outdoor shower, fire pit, a queen-size bed, and much more,” the listing said. “Start your day with a cup of coffee out on the patio and end it with the ambiance of lighting in the evening.”

It’s an example of glamping, a mix of camping and some amenities that make the experience more luxurious than staying in a tent.

That means everything may not be like home. In the winning Airbnb, the toilet and heated shower are both outside.

“The Beacon Tree house is very similar to camping but (you’re) in a gorgeous treehouse,” the listing said. “There is no heat or A/C. Get ready to GLAMP!”

The treehouse made Airbnb’s list of best new hosts after the company said it studied each state to determine those who started welcoming guests in 2021. Analysts also considered the volume of check-ins and whether those who made the listings had achieved Superhost status, a measure of cancellations, ratings and other factors.

For its part, the Beacon Treehouse earned 4.97 of 5 stars, with several guests raving about the privacy and convenience during their stay with hosts identified in a news release as Christopher and Torie C.

It’s not the first time a Western North Carolina destination has been recognized as a top place to visit.

In July, an Airbnb host in Asheville was named the most hospitable in the state. Jessica Withers of the Lucky W Cottage made it to the top of the list after beating out stiff competition, McClatchy News reported.

Hendersonville, roughly 25 miles south of Asheville, also isn’t a stranger to statewide recognition.

In June, the town was named the best place to retire in North Carolina. To create those rankings, SmartAsset said it evaluated local taxes, access to medical care and opportunities to be social.
