Carlos Thomas signs with 49ers

A fourth member of the Gamecocks’ 2008 secondary will be in an NFL minicamp.

Cornerback Carlos Thomas signed a free agent deal with the San Francisco 49ers after going undrafted over the weekend. Thomas joins safety Emanuel Cook (NY Jets) and cornerbacks Captain Munnerlyn (seventh round, Carolina) and Stoney Woodson (seventh round, NY Giants) on minicamp rosters.

Thomas split time with Woodson in the fall, starting four games and appearing in all 13. He tied for second on the team with three INTs, including a pick in the final minute of the Gamecocks’ win at Ole Miss.

Like Woodson, Thomas was not invited to the NFL combine but had a good showing at USC’s pro day in March.
