Sold out: Tickets all gone for Manchester United vs Liverpool soccer match in Columbia

Just over a day after ticket sales opened for the Manchester United vs. Liverpool soccer match at Williams-Brice Stadium, the friendly match has sold out, event organizers told The State.

The game will take place on the evening of Aug. 3 as part of the Rivals in Red Tour, which includes three matches between Manchester United, Liverpool and Arsenal — three of the most popular teams in the English Premier League.

A pre-sale began on Monday at 9 a.m., creating a frenzy on Ticketmaster. At certain points early in the sale, more than 10,000 people were waiting to purchase tickets — which ranged from $100 to well over $500, depending on the section — in the site’s queue.

Organizers said the event sold out all 76,000-plus tickets just three hours into the general sale, which began at 9 a.m. Tuesday.

On Ticketmaster, there are a number of seats still being listed for sale. Those are designated as “Official Platinum” seats and being listed for $500 each all the way up to $1,155.

The tickets are already selling for much more than face value on secondary ticket marketplaces. On StubHub as of Tuesday, the get-in price for the match is over $200 after fees, with lower-level tickets near midfield being listed for over $600 apiece.
