Steve Spurrier is not thrilled with the prospect of facing Georgia running back Nick Chubb on Saturday, but he’s not terribly worried about missing Chubb’s recruiting visit to South Carolina’s campus.

Chubb, a Georgia native who is second in the SEC in rushing with 154.5 yards per game, told reporters in Athens, Ga., on Tuesday that he probably would have signed with Georgia even if Spurrier had been in town to welcome him. Chubb’s visit was a “last-minute” decision on his part, he said.

“Sometimes I’m in town. Sometimes I’m out,” Spurrier said Wednesday on the SEC teleconference. “I think he was going to Georgia anyway. I can’t worry about all that.”

Chubb visited on the same summer of 2013 weekend Spurrier received the Great Floridian Award from Florida governor Rick Scott.

“Maybe the best running back, certainly one of the best, in the country,” Spurrier said of Chubb.
