The rising sophomore was the highest-rated recruit of coach Frank Martin’s 2016 class. He announced his transfer from USC on May 26.
The 6-foot-9 forward averaged 9.6 minutes over 29 games, supplying minutes in relief of starting posts Chris Silva and Maik Kotsar. He averaged 1.1 points and 2.0 rebounds, with 11 blocks and seven steals overall.
Keita scored nine points in USC’s win against Duke that sent the Gamecocks to the Sweet 16. A four-star prospect from Philadelphia by way of Greenville’s 22ft Academy, Keita was a consensus top-85 national recruit.
Per NCAA transfer rules, he will have to sit out one season at St. John’s but still have three years of eligibility remaining.
