USC Men's Basketball

7 Gamecocks transferred from Frank Martin’s team last year. Here’s how they’re doing

One of the key storylines for the South Carolina men’s basketball team early in the season has been the impact the team’s six transfer players have made.

Head coach Frank Martin has sung the praises of veteran transfers James Reese, Erik Stevenson and A.J. Wilson, each of whom has left a mark on the team in terms of leadership, and all three have cracked the starting lineup in the team’s 6-2 start. Towering 7-foot LSU transfer Josh Gray has seen significant minutes in the post, and local products Chico Carter Jr. and Brandon Martin have served valuable roles off of the bench.

But what about the seven Gamecocks who entered the transfer portal and left Columbia this summer?

With the NCAA lifting the one-year waiting period for transfers, more than 1,700 Division I players nationwide entered the portal, including former Gamecocks like Justin Minaya, Alanzo Frink and Trae Hannibal.

Here’s a look at how those former Gamecocks are performing in their new homes:

Trey Anderson, F, San Jose State: 8 games (4 starts), 25.3 MPG, 50% FG, 8.3 PPG, 4.4 RPG, 7/8 A/TO

Alanzo Frink, F, East Carolina: 7 games (0 starts), 12.4 MPG, 59.1% FG, 5.1 PPG, 2.3 RPG, 2/6 A/TO

Trae Hannibal, G, Murray State: 8 games (0 starts), 21.1 MPG, 52.6% FG, 10.9 PPG, 5.4 RPG, 22/14 A/TO

Jalyn McCreary, F, South Florida: 5 games (0 starts), 13 MPG, 33.3% FG, 2.8 PPG, 2.2 RPG, 2/5 A/TO

Justin Minaya, F, Providence: 9 games (2 starts), 26.4 MPG, 37% FG, 4.6 PPG, 5.3 RPG, 13/12 A/TO

T.J. Moss, G, McNeese State: 8 games (0 starts), 23.1 MPG, 38.3% FG, 8.1 PPG, 2.3 RPG, 14/22 A/TO

Seventh Woods, G, Morgan State: 3 games (0 starts), 13.7 MPG, 63.6% FG, 6.7 PPG, 2.0 RPG, 3/4 A/TO
