West Columbia police investigate shooting that wounded two

West Columbia police are investigating a shooting that occurred early Friday morning that left two wounded, according to officials.

Capt. Scott Morrison, a department spokesman, said police were dispatched to the 500 block of North Street in West Columbia in reference to a shooting around 1:30 a.m. When police arrived, they found two Hispanic males suffering from gunshot wounds inside of the home.

Morrison said further investigation revealed that two black male suspects approached the home and knocked on the door. When one of the victims answered the door, the suspects opened fire, striking one victim in the leg and stomach and the other in the back. Both victims were transported to a Columbia-area hospital to receive treatment.

Morrison said details are limited at this time, but police are continuing to investigate the shooting.
