Clemson close with highly regarded Georgia DL Michail Carter
While Clemson will spend a lot of effort wooing defensive lineman Rashan Gary this weekend on his official visit, the Tigers remain a big player for another big defensive lineman, Michail Carter of Jackson, Ga.
His first official visit this month was to Clemson. This week, he’s visiting Georgia Tech and Alabama and this weekend he sees Georgia.
“He had a fantastic time at Clemson,” said Carter’s coach, Dary Myricks. “He really enjoyed the kids. And his home meeting with Coach (Dabo) Swinney was fantastic. He also had a good time at Tech. When he comes back home this weekend, we’ll debrief. He’s going to enjoy every visit.”
New Georgia coach Kirby Smart was the first of the coaches to have an in-home visit. Next was Alabama’s Nick Saban, followed by GT’s Paul Johnson. Swinney got the final home visit.
“I thought Coach Swinney and his staff did a fantastic job and they made some inroads,” Myricks said. “They wanted him to know how he would fit in with what they do. Coach Hobby has been down a ton.”
Coaches from Alabama, Georgia and Georgia Tech were in earlier this week. Carter plans to announce on signing day.
Clemson’s official visitors this weekend include defensive backs Isaiah Simmons and Lavert Hill, as well as Gary, who’s regarded by some as the nation’s No. 1 prospect in the 2016 class.
