FAMILY FUN DAY: 10 a.m.-noon Saturday at the State Farmers Market, 3483 Charleston Highway, West Columbia. Visit the Market Pavilion inside the Corbett Building to shop for local products during the grand opening of Five Rivers Market, an indoor farmers and specialty market; grab lunch at Dupre at the Market or from a food truck; the S.C. Department of Agriculture’s commodity boards will have free samples of Certified SC products such as local peanuts, peaches, watermelon, pork and beef, while supplies last. AGAware, an AgSouth Farm Credit program designed to educate the next generation of farmers will be there with “Counting Collards,” a demonstration booth featuring learning stations to simulate agriculture lending, crop production and the crop sales experience in a hands-on environment; there will also be games and activities for children.
