Geena Davis, 70, Is Making an Unexpected Return to Action Movies-and It's With Arnold Schwarzenegger

Geena Davis has done everything from A League of Their Own to Thelma & Louise, but the Oscar winner has a new action film in store.

Davis, 70, rose to stardom in films like Beetlejuice and The Accidental Tourist, for which she won an Academy Award. She later became instantly identifiable thanks to roles like Thelma, and even tackled television with her role in Commander in Chief. Behind the scenes, Davis launched the Geena Davis Institute on Gender in Media, which works to increase the presence of female characters in media. Now, the stunner is back with a major action role alongside Arnold Schwarzenegger. Deadline just reported that Davis is set to join The Kellys, a new action film from Amazon MGM. In addition to Schwarzenegger, she'll star alongside Liam Hemsworth, Kelsey Asbille, and Abby Elliott. According to the provided synopsis, The Kellys follows Jack Kelly, a disgraced NYC cop whose wife, Molly, is taken hostage by terrorists inside an old armory building. "He'll have to join forces with the people he fears most to save her: His family," the synopsis reads.

While it doesn't say what role Davis will play in the film, it's exciting to see the star in an action role. While she's dipped into the genre a bit, with roles in Cutthroat Island and The Long Kiss Goodnight, this is a unique pick for the actress.

Not one to hit the red carpet too frequently, Davis attended the premiere of Netflix's The Boroughs + ATAS Event at The Egyptian Theatre Hollywood on May 18 in Los Angeles, California. Showing off her impressive height and natural beauty, the star rocked a minidress like an absolute queen. She appears in the series as Renee, a retired music manager and resident at the retirement community. The supernatural mystery, which is made by the popular Duffer Brothers, also stars Alfred Molina, Alfre Woodard, and Denis O'Hare. The show "is set in a seemingly picturesque retirement community where a group of unlikely heroes must band together to stop an otherworldly threat from stealing the one thing they don't have… time," Deadline reported.
