FREE COMIC BOOK DAY: On May 2, several stores and shops around Columbia will be participating in Free Comic Book Day, a day where guests are invited to choose from 50 free titles of various comic books. For a full list of titles and locations, visit www.freecomicbookday.com.
AUTHOR SIGNING: Celebrate Independent Bookstore Day with exclusive books and items at Books on Broad, 944 Broad St, Camden. Tom Poland will sign books from 10 a.m.-noon, Robert Ariail will speak at 2 p.m. and Kathryn Lovatt will share some of her work from 4-5 p.m.
BOOK RELEASE: Arthur Turfa of Blythewood High School is releasing his book of poetry, “Places and Times,” at a launch party from 4:40-6:30 p.m. at the Blythewood Arts Center, 152-B Blythewood Road. (803) 691-4090 ext. 28046
