Former WIS reporter’s classy ‘goodbye’ video goes viral

A funny and heartfelt video from Lisa Desjardins, a former WIS reporter who was laid off by CNN last week, has gone viral.

Desjardins, who worked at WIS as Lisa Goddard before she was married, covered the S.C. Legislature before moving to Washington, D.C., in 2003 to work at CNN radio.

She did reports for the cable news network from Capitol Hill, and delighted her Twitter followers with her obsessive reading of the fine print of legislation.

But alas, CNN cut back on its Capitol Hill reporting, and Desjardins was laid off. In the goodbye video posted to You Tube, she talks about the wonderful and sometimes frustrating experience of covering Congress.

As she talks about her days at CNN, she jokingly pilfers from the office supply closet, while her cameraman, offscreen, approves.

Desjardins also sends her regrets to “all the gingers out there” for leaving as one of the few red-headed reporters in Washington.

The You Tube video has gotten almost 250,000 views, and, it’s hoped, another job offer for the former Columbia resident.
