“There are some things going on with Hootie,” Darius Rucker said in September when asked if the band he fronts, Hootie and The Blowfish, was taking a break while he climbed the country charts with a solo album.
Could Rucker have been referring to the relationship between Hootie drummer Jim “Soni” Sonefeld and Laura Bryan, the ex-wife of guitarist Mark Bryan?
Sonefeld, who lives in Columbia, and Laura Bryan married earlier this month in a private ceremony, a band spokeswoman confirmed.
Sonefeld has two children from his previous marriage, and Laura Bryan has three children from her marriage to Mark Bryan.

“We do acknowledge that Jim ‘Soni’ Sonefeld and Laura Bryan were married Dec. 6, 2008. However we have no further comment on their personal lives,” Susan Graham said in a statement.
But if you’re thinking Hootie is entering the realm of sordid behavior that beguiled bands like Fleetwood Mac, you’d be wrong.
Both Sonefeld and Bryan also released solo albums this year, but the guys in Hootie still plan to perform together next year, including at Columbia City Ballet’s “Hootie and The Blowfish Ballet” in April.
“Hootie and The Blowfish still have shows in March and April to support their charities, and they will be doing those,” Graham said.
