Kate Harpootlian sent home on ‘So You Think You Can Dance’
Kate Harpootlian, the Columbia native and contestant on the Fox reality show, “So You Think You Can Dance,” was eliminated from the competition Monday.
Harpootlian landed in the bottom six two weeks in a row. Last week she was saved by judges Nigel Lythgoe, Jason Derulo and Paula Abdul. This week, saves were all by Twitter vote, and Harpootlian was sent home.
The actress and contemporary dancer responded graciously, tweeting thanks to her fans and the show for an “incredible journey.”
Harpootlian began her career training at the Columbia Conservatory of Dance, although she now lives and works in Los Angeles.
She said her plans post “So You Think You Can Dance” include focusing more on teaching and choreographing.
Her father, Columbia lawyer and former S.C. Democratic chair Dick Harpootlian, tweeted words of support after the show.
“I am absolutely a proud Dad,” he said.
