Charleston native Stephen Colbert is less than two weeks away from taking over for David Letterman on CBS’ “The Late Show.”
Colbert, whose official start date is Sept. 8, was named David Letterman’s successor last year, after playing conservative pundit “Stephen Colbert” for nearly a decade on The Colbert Report.
In anticipation of his takeover, Time Magazine has featured Colbert’s image on the cover of its Sept. 7 issue and published an extensive feature article about the comedian and his rise to stardom.
Colbert’s first-week guests include George Clooney and GOP presidential hopeful Jeb Bush. Check out some of the other big names at thestate.com/celebrities.
Other big names scheduled for Colbert’s first week, announced Monday by CBS, include actress Scarlet Johansson, hip-hop artist Kendrick Lamar, comedian Amy Schumer and country star Toby Keith.
