One Day A Week: How to celebrate National Lazy Day
It’s the laziest national holiday you’ve never heard of, and on Aug. 10, we are here for it. Happy National Lazy Day!
Leisure
Relax and recline with a bath soak — a long one. Sleep in late and spend your afternoon nourishing your body and mind with a foaming milk bath from Raw Essence. Started in 2012, Raw Essence makes its products from simple, wholesome ingredients such as pure olive oil, coconut oil, honey and spices. If your current bathroom lacks the necessary tub, you can still indulge your senses with a shower steamer that contain concentrated amounts of essential oils such as eucalyptus and rosemary. Add a body scrub and face mask to your cart and your lazy day just got a little bit more luxurious.
Where to find it: 9003 Two Notch Road, Suite 12. www.rawessencesoaps.com. 803-834-6576. Open 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday; 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Tuesday-Friday; 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday.
Drink
After your hot bath or steamy shower, chill out with an agua fresca from Tacos Nayarit. This refreshing summertime drink is made with water, fruit and a bit of lime juice, making it the perfect light drink to kick back and relax. It’s also a great drink choice to sip with a meal, so throw in chips, salsa, queso, an order of tacos, and some quesadillas for all day easy eating. Call to place your order for pickup or order through Doordash for delivery.
Where to find it: 1531 Percival Road. 803-814-0727. Open 11 a.m.-9 p.m. Monday-Sunday.
Food
Snuggle a little deeper into your couch, arm chair, or lazy boy with an after-dinner pint of Epworth Ice Cream. Born in Columbia during the Great Depression, Epworth weathered America’s financial storm thanks to a surplus of peanut butter. Today, that peanut butter ice cream is the company’s flagship flavor, and 100% of the profits continue to go into the Epworth Children’s Home. Other pint flavors include: caramel with caramel filled chocolate, and vanilla and chocolate swirl with peanut butter cups. It’s a Certified South Carolina treat that can be found at Crave Artisan Specialty market, Rosewood Market, Ole Timey Meats, No Name Deli, and more.
Where to find it: 2900 Millwood Ave. www.epworthicecream.org. 803-403-3388.
Fun
No lazy day would be complete without a movie marathon. And we can’t think of a better series for the whole household to enjoy then “Harry Potter.” For HBO Max subscribers you have until Aug. 25 to binge watch all eight films before they are removed from the streaming network. But for those without an HBO Max subscription, you can also rent a few of the films on Amazon Prime. Accio remote!
