David Lee Roth coming to Columbia as part of KISS farewell tour
Music fans in Columbia are getting two legendary rock performers for the price of one.
KISS is coming to Colonial Life Arena on its farewell tour, and it announced David Lee Roth will perform as a special guest.
The former Van Halen front man turned solo star will be on the Feb. 11, 2020 bill as part of KISS’ “End of the Road Tour,” Colonial Life Arena officials said in a news release.
Tickets went on sale to the public on Nov. 22 and are still available. Prices range from $49.50 to more than $1,000.
“Roth will bring his exciting stage show featuring a twin guitar big rock sound and a set list of classic hits and future energy,” it said in the release.
When he was the lead singer for Van Halen, Roth performed on hit songs “Jump,” “Hot for Teacher,” and “Runnin’ with the Devil.” He also scored solo hits with remakes of “California Girls,” and “Just a Gigolo / I Ain’t Got Nobody.”
The Columbia concert is the only scheduled stop in South Carolina for KISS on the current tour. The group is slated to perform twice in North Carolina — Feb. 8 in Greensboro and Sept. 9 in Raleigh.
The band said the tour will come to a close on July 21, 2021 at an arena in New York.
Over the year’s KISS has built a legion of fans with their makeup-covered onstage personas, elaborate live performances and rocking songs such as “Rock and Roll All Nite,” “Detroit Rock City,” “Love Gun,” “Beth,” “I Was Made For Loving You,” “Shout It Out Loud,” and “Lick It Up,” among others.
