‘Cultural homecoming’ will take place when pop stars bring tour to Columbia

Nearly 30 years after their hit duet song “The Boy Is Mine” debuted, pop stars Brandy and Monica will embark on their first-ever co-headlining tour, which includes a stop in Columbia.

The Grammy Award winning R&B icons will perform at Colonial Life Arena on Nov. 14, as part of “The Boy Is Mine Tour.”

Tickets will go on sale to the public Friday at 10 a.m., but various presale events will begin Wednesday.

Information on ticket prices was not available.

After tickets go on sale at ticketmaster.com, any tickets that are still available can be purchased the next Tuesday at the Colonial Life Arena box office — as well as on the ticket giant’s website.

Joining Brandy and Monica on tour will be fellow Grammy winners Kelly Rowland, formerly of Destiny’s Child, and Muni Long, promoters said Tuesday in a news release. Jamal Roberts, fresh off his 2025 American Idol win, is also scheduled to be a part of the tour, according to the release.

This is Brandy and Monica’s only scheduled performance in South Carolina on the upcoming tour. Prior to the Columbia performance, the award-winning singers are slated to make tour stops in Atlanta, Georgia (Oct. 31), and Charlotte, North Carolina (Nov. 13).

“Bringing Brandy and Monica together for this tour is more than just a moment — it’s a cultural homecoming,” promoter Shelby Joyner said in the release.

In 1998, solo stars Brandy and Monica collaborated on “The Boy Is Mine,” which spent a record-shattering 13 consecutive weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and “became a defining cultural touchstone of late 90s R&B,” promoters said in the release. “The Boy Is Mine,” won the award for Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals at the 1999 Grammy’s.

Brandy and Monica introduced their hit song to a new generation last year when they had a cameo in Ariana Grande’s “the boy is mine” music video from her Grammy-nominated album Eternal Sunshine, before lending their voices to the official remix, according to the release.

“This really is a full-circle moment. Monica and I coming together again isn’t just about the music — it’s about honoring where we came from and how far we’ve both come,” Brandy said in the release. “ ‘The Boy Is Mine’ was a defining chapter in R&B, and to share the stage all these years later is bigger than a reunion — it’s a celebration of growth, sisterhood, and the love our fans have given us from day one.”

Brandy is known for solo hits “Have You Ever?” and “I Wanna Be Down,” among other songs.

Monica, who has sold over 30 million records worldwide, has had hits with “Don’t Take It Personal (Just One Of Dem Days),” “The First Night,” and “Angel of Mine.”

“The love that ‘The Boy Is Mine’ continues to receive means everything to me,” Monica said in the release. “This tour is a celebration of our history, our impact, and the fans who have grown with us. Brandy and I have been on our own unique journeys, and coming back together in this way is a reminder of the power of respect, strength, and real music. We’re giving the people what they’ve been asking for, and doing it with grace, love, and purpose.”
