Music legend will include performance in Columbia on his 2026 tour
Musical icon James Taylor will come to Columbia later this year as part of his 2026 tour, promoters said Tuesday in a news release.
The Grammy Award-winning, Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame inductee will bring his “All-Star Band” tour to Colonial Life Arena on Sept. 11, according to the release.
Tickets for the mellow rock star’s Columbia show will go on sale to the public on Friday at 10 a.m., but multiple presale events will begin Wednesday at ticketmaster.com.
Information about ticket prices was not available.
It’s clear that Taylor has “Carolina In My Mind,” as the Columbia performance is the first of four tour stops in the Carolinas on the tour.
Taylor also will have concerts in North Carolina at Charlotte (Sept. 13) and Wilmington (Sept. 15) before returning to South Carolina for a Sept. 20 show in Charleston.
Taylor, a singer/songwriter, has been performing for more than 50 years. In that time he “has touched people with his warm baritone voice and distinctive style of guitar-playing,” promoters said in the release.
Taylor has sold more than 100 million albums, earning gold, platinum and multi-platinum awards since the release of his self-titled debut album in 1968, according to the release.
Along with “Carolina In My Mind,” Taylor has had hits with “Fire and Rain,” “How Sweet It Is,” “You’ve got a Friend,” and “Shower the People,” among other songs.
Among his many accolades are induction into the prestigious Songwriters Halls of Fame, being a recipient of the distinguished Chevalier of the Order of Arts and Letters, the National Medal of Arts, the Kennedy Center Honors and the Presidential Medal of Freedom, according to the release.
