Hip-hop legends to headline lineup that will hold concert in Columbia
A lineup of hip-hop legends are scheduled to perform in Columbia as part of a concert that promoters are calling “historic.”
The “Cash Money Records & No Limit Records Tour” will include a stop in South Carolina at the Colonial Life Arena.
Promoters said the event will be “One time. One stage. One night.” But it will feature many performers.
The concert — headlined by Master P, Birdman and Juvenile among others — is scheduled for Oct. 10, promoters said Monday in a news release. Other hip-hop performers on the concert bill are Mannie Fresh, B.G., Silkk the Shocker, Mia X, Mac, Mercedes, Fiend, Choppa Style, and Mr. Serv-On with special guest Lil Boosie.
Promoters cautioned that the lineup is subject to change.
Tickets will go on sale to the public at 10 a.m. Friday, which is Juneteenth, and will be available on ticketmaster.com and bmnshows.com. Various presale events will be held on Wednesday.
Information about ticket prices was not available.
Tickets are only available online the first day that they go on sale. After that, any tickets that are still available can be purchased the next Tuesday or Friday that the Colonial Life Arena box office is open — as well as on the ticket giant’s website.
It’s the only scheduled stop in South Carolina for the “Cash Money Records & No Limit Records Tour,” which also will perform in Georgia (Atlanta on Sept. 18) and North Carolina (Raleigh on Sept. 19).
“The fans have been waiting for a tour like this for a long time,” Master P said in the release. “We came from New Orleans and built something the world had never seen before — movements that changed music, hip-hop culture, and the business forever.”
Cash Money & No Limit helped transform Southern hip-hop into a national force, expanding its influence far beyond the region and reshaping the business of music in the process, promoters said.
“Both labels have shown artists that ownership and independence matter,” the release said.
