Helen Mirren Subtly Addresses Tom Hardy 'MobLand' Drama Amid Firing Rumors

Helen Mirren seemingly weighed in on the rumors that her MobLand costar Tom Hardy was fired from the show.

"Love you now and always helen," Mirren, 80, wrote via Instagram on Thursday, May 28, alongside a photo of Hardy, 48.

The public show of support comes after multiple reports about alleged drama behind the scenes on the MobLand set. The Paramount+ series, which follows Hardy as a fixer for a London crime family, is expected to return for a second season later this year.

However, according to Puck, Hardy was allegedly fired from MobLand after filming wrapped on season 2. A source also told The Hollywood Reporter that Hardy "refused to come out of his trailer for hours at a time."

Variety, meanwhile, reported that Hardy "was not fired," with an insider close to production claiming that "the door is not closed for season 3 and things are being worked through creatively."

As for speculation surrounding Hardy and Mirren's alleged on-set tension, a source told the outlet Hardy's lateness was "frustrating," but Mirren has "never appeared to be anti-Tom."

Another insider denied the insinuation that Hardy and Mirren were at odds over political differences, adding that the actress is "not that sort of person."

Us Weekly has reached out to Hardy and Paramount+ for comment.

This isn't the first time MobLand has faced speculation about offscreen drama. In December 2025, the Daily Mail reported that Mirren wasn't thrilled by Hardy's lateness, which she addressed in a similar fashion.

"Things I love," she wrote via Instagram. "Tom Hardy for his brilliance on screen [and] his dedication off screen."

Mirren went on to praise Hardy's "good heart" and "especially the HardyHugs I get when onset with him which is not nearly enough in my opinion."
