Golden Knights' Carter Hart Trolled by Chant Related to Sexual Assault Case

Vegas Golden Knights goalie Carter Hart heard the wrath of Carolina Hurricanes fans during Game 1 of the 2026 Stanley Cup Finals.

The capacity crowd at Raleigh's Lenovo Center trolled Hart, 27, with chants of "No means no!" during the second period on Tuesday, June 2. Hart was also loudly booed when he was announced before puck drop.

"His name was drowned out by the Carolina fans," ESPN's Greg Wyshynski shared via X.

In February 2024, Hart and four other hockey players were charged with sexually assaulting a woman in a London, Ontario, hotel room in 2018.

All five men were found not guilty in July 2025, with a judge ruling that the evidence provided by the woman was not "credible or reliable."

Hart - who was banned from playing in the NHL after being charged - signed with the Golden Knights in October 2025 after being acquitted.

After mostly splitting time with goalies Akira Schmid and Adin Hill during the regular season, Hart took over the permanent role as starter at the beginning of April and has been spectacular in the playoffs.

Hart allowed four goals on 27 shots in Tuesday night's Game 1, but the Golden Knights emerged victorious thanks to a game-winning goal by Tomas Hertl late in the third period. Game 2 of the best-of-seven series is on Thursday, June 4, in Raleigh.

"He had a couple of big [saves], stopped a couple breakaways after we were not doing a great job in front of him early there," Golden Knights forward Colton Sissons told reporters about Hart after the victory. "He just settled back into his game, and he's a huge part of the win as always."

Hart spoke to reporters on Monday, June 1, and was asked how he's grown since signing with Vegas last year.

"I've been able to meet a lot of good people in the community," Hart said. "I think the Vegas Golden Knights Foundation has done a really good job of making it easy for me to integrate into the community and meet a lot of cool people. Just really fortunate to be here in Vegas. It's a great culture of people. Like I said, I've met a lot of cool people and [I'm] just very fortunate to be here in Las Vegas and with this group."

Hart's media session - which was scheduled for 15 minutes - was subsequently cut short after just six minutes by a member of the Golden Knights media staff.
