Here are the highest-paying open SC government jobs and the salaries are all $100K and up
South Carolina had 2,452 state job openings Thursday and the highest paid open government position was for a psychiatrist with a salary of $250,000.
The job is located at the Department of Corrections, according to the state’s job posting website. It’s been online since March 22.
The listing does not say which prison the job would be located in.
Average salary for a psychiatrist in the state was $222,780, according to salary.com.
That was the only open state job paying more than than $200,000.
The next highest paying job was for a cloud architect with the Department of Administration in Richland County. The top salary for that job was $169,413. The job posting says the agency is looking for a “technical thought leader.” The job was just posted Tuesday. Deadline for applications is June 8.
The Department of Administration has four openings for IT personnel at salaries up to $160,000.
The state has 47 jobs with top salaries of between $100,000 and $250,000, including one for vice president of economic advancement at Spartanburg Community College, two nurse practitioners the Department of Mental Health and a psychiatrist for the Department of Mental Health, Anderson, Oconee, Pickens district.
The Public Service Commission is looking for a lawyer at a top salary of $139,238. Applicants should have 10 years of regulatory experience.
Psychologists are being sought for various state government agencies at salaries up to $114,000.
Other open jobs paying up to $114,000 a year are nurse practitioners, psychologists and various administrative jobs.
The state website says the in-demand careers are accounting, automotive, case workers, corrections, law enforcement, human services, information technology and computers, medical/dental, mental health, nursing and trades.
All state government employees in full-time jobs are offered what many consider great benefits, including health coverage, which includes prescription coverage and wellness benefits, dental, vision, term life insurance, long-term disability, flexible spending accounts for health and child care expenses and adoption assistance.
And they’re part of the South Carolina Public Employee Benefit Authority, which administers insurance and retirement benefits for state employees.
The lowest paid full-time job on the state website Thursday was a custodian at Central Carolina Technical College in Sumter at $21,200.
