2 Fairfax men charged with causing 2013 Train collision

.--The U.S. attorney’s Office charged two men with causing a train wreck in Allendale County that occurred in September 2013.

James Duvall Love, 33, and Deon Dovell Roberts, 34, parked a car in the path of an oncoming Amtrak train and left. After the collision, the two men came back to the car faking injury so they could submit claims for personal injuries, U.S. Attorney James Nettles reported Wednesday, April 15, 2015.

The two men were also charge with unlawful interference with a train operator and causing conspiracy to commit mail and wire fraud.

“The safety of the American railroad system is among the highest priorities of the country’s law enforcement agencies. Those who would seek to interfere with the well-being of Amtrak’s passengers and the commerce of the railroads will be held accountable to the greatest extent allowed under the law,” Amtrak Inspector General Tom Howard said.
