SC native and ‘Luke Cage’ star is coming to Columbia
South Carolina native and “Luke Cage” star Mike Colter is coming to Columbia.
Colter, 41, will be at Soda City Comic Con on Aug. 25 and 26. The event posted on its Facebook page Wednesday night. Opportunities for autographs and professional photos with the Columbia native are on sale now and there also will be VIP packages available.
Colter plays the title character in the Netflix series “Marvel’s Luke Cage,” which is based on the Marvel comic series.
“A hoodie-wearing, unbreakable ex-con fights to clear his name and save his neighborhood,” Netflix says in the series description on its website. “He wasn’t looking for a fight, but the people need a hero.”
Colter — whose cousin is Oscar-nominated actress Viola Davis, another S.C. native — isn’t the only Marvel comic hero who hails from the Palmetto State. Chadwick Boseman, who portrayed Black Panther in 2016’s “Captain America: Civil War” and this year’s blockbuster “Black Panther,” is from Anderson.
According to Colter’s profile on the Internet Movie Database, he was born in Columbia and earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of South Carolina. His birthday is Aug. 26, the last day of Soda City Comic Con.
