One shot and killed in Columbia on New Year’s Eve

A man is dead after a being shot in Richland County on New Year’s Eve.
The shooting occurred at around 10:30 p.m. Monday, on the 300 block of South Highland Forest Drive. The victim was hit in the upper body and died from his wounds, officials say.
Richland County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the incident.
The shooting was one of several incidents overnight and Tuesday morning in the Midlands.
