Richland County Deputy arrested on DUI in Lexington

A Richland County Sheriff’s Department Deputy is in jail after he had too much to drink and took to the road, according to the department.

Justin Griner, 28, was pulled over by the South Carolina Highway Patrol in the early hours of Saturday, a Richland County Sheriff’s Department spokesperson said. He was found to be driving under the influence, according to the department. He was off duty.

The SCHP arrested Griner and charged him with DUI.

Griner is currently being held at the Lexington County Detention Center.

Sheriff Leon Lott suspended Griner without pay pending an internal investigation, according to the Richland County Sheriff’s Department.
