14-year-old Rock Hill youth hit in drive-by shooting while walking near downtown
A Rock Hill teenager was wounded Sunday in a drive-by shooting, police said.
The victim, 14, was walking on South Wilson Street near Friedheim Road when a car drove by and fired several shots, said Lt. Michael Chavis of the Rock Hill Police Department.
The shooting happened around 5:30 p.m. near a convenience store.
The victim, found on nearby Twitty Court by emergency responders, was struck in the leg, Chavis said.
The victim was taken to Piedmont Medical center and has not been identified. The condition of the victim was not released but the injuries are not expected to be life-threatening, officials said.
The shots were fired from an older model white Ford Crown Victoria, Chavis said.
“This was a very dangerous situation with shots being fired from the car,” Chavis said.
No other injuries were reported and it remains unclear what led to the shooting, Chavis said.
