Salvation Army’s Clothes for Kids event kicks off Friday

The Salvation Army of the Midlands’ annual Clothes for Kids back to school event begins Friday and continues through Aug. 9 at Columbia Place Mall and Columbiana Centre.

The summer drive provides clothing for underserved children who do not have adequate clothes, shoes and school supplies and is intended to provides children with the clothes and supplies to begin the school year with confidence.

Beginning Friday, Clothes for Kids tables at Columbia Place Mall and Columbiana Centre will feature display boards with cards listing children’s names, ages and clothing sizes. Shoppers are asked to select a child’s card and purchase clothes and schools supplies for that child.

The Columbiana Centre table will be set up near the Hollister store, near the playground and JC Penney inside entrance. The Columbia Place Mall table will be located in front and inside Burlington Coat Factory.

Table attendants will be available to assist shoppers at both malls 10 a.m.-9 p.m. Monday-Saturday and noon-6 p.m. on Sundays.
