Authorities said emergency responders revived a child while on the way to a hospital after they received a call Tuesday for a drowning in a pool.

Spartanburg County Coroner Rusty Clevenger said he was informed of a drowning at 254 Angells Drive in Woodruff around 12:11 p.m. He said he was later told paramedics with Spartanburg EMS revived the child while riding in the ambulance.

“That’s why you hear me commend the EMS day in and day out,” Clevenger said. “They save us a lot of work and do a great service to this county.”

He did not know the child’s age or condition.
