Upstate woman charged with kidnapping, attempted murder in ex-boyfriend’s shooting

Warrants have been signed charging a 44-year-old Greer woman with attempted murder, kidnapping and possession of a weapon during a violent crime after authorities alleged that she held an ex-boyfriend hostage and shot him in the chest when he lunged for her gun Monday morning.

Freda Lynn Lambert-Smith of 145 Kaleigh Drive is believed to be traveling in a 2014 white Ford Fiesta, authorities said.

James Scott Condrey was airlifted to Spartanburg Regional Medical Center after suffering a gunshot wound to his upper-left chest that appeared to leave the bullet lodged under his skin on the right side of his stomach, according to the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities said he reported receiving a call before going to a house along Kaleigh Drive, where he said he was held at gunpoint for several hours.
