Orangeburg County armed robbery suspect is person of interest in homicide case
A man who was charged in the armed robbery of a pizza delivery driver Friday may also be a person of interest in a homicide case, Orangeburg County investigators say.
Orangeburg COunty Sheriff Leroy Ravenell said the delivery driver was instructed to meet an individual in an apartment complex at around 8:30 p.m. When the driver arrived, several male suspects, including one with a handgun, struck her from behind before taking her delivery order, money and her cell phone.
Ravenell said Aikeem Lott was taken into custody late Friday evening without incident and charged with armed robbery in connection to the incident.
Once in custody, Ravenell said Lott also became a person of interest in the stabbing death of a 29-year-old Holly Hill man on Nov. 3.
Ravenell said Allen Chancey was found dead at his Cranbrook Road residence by relatives. Initial investigation led deputies to believe that Chancey was shot after opening the door, but a coroner’s report discovered he had been stabbed.
It is unclear at this time why Lott is a person of interest in Chancey’s death.
A bond hearing for Lott was scheduled for Monday at 2:30 p.m., Ravenell said.
