Beaufort County may once again be in the “American Idol” spotlight

Laquan Fields, the hometown best friend of Season 12 winner Candice Glover, auditioned for the show in Atlanta and advanced to the Hollywood rounds. Fields was not featured on the show Thursday night when the Atlanta auditions aired, but tweeted a picture of himself holding a “golden ticket” after his audition.

Fields, a St. Helena Island native, was one of 44 “Idol” hopefuls to receive a “golden ticket” from the judges in Atlanta, becoming one of the 119 contestants to make it to Hollywood so far.

Fields auditioned with Glover in Charlotte in 2012, but did not advance to Hollywood.
