If you're a lover of vintage midcentury modern furniture, you've probably heard of Broyhill Brasilia. The company was founded in 1962 and is no longer in production - but to this day, it remains one of the most iconic midcentury modern furniture collections, and many people covet Broyhill Brasilia pieces.

So when a furniture refinisher managed to snag a set of four pieces of Broyhill Brasilia furniture at a thrift store, she was thrilled - less thrilling, however, was the fact that the pieces were all painted blue, meaning she had a lot of work ahead of her.

This Furniture Flipper Thrifted Four Broyhill Brasilia Pieces for $115

Furniture refinisher and flipper Erin, known as @refurbishedish on TikTok, shared a video of the moment she discovered the Broyhill Brasilia furniture at her local secondhand shop. "I'll never EVER top this thrift find," she wrote on her video, which has racked up more than 1.1 million views.

"A friend found this in a thrift store and immediately called me," she continued in the caption. "I almost choked when I opened the photos. I literally cannot believe that all four pieces were only $115!!" Online, many vintage Broyhill Brasilia pieces of furniture sell for upwards of $2,000 - so Erin scored a major steal.

The only flaw? All four pieces - a dresser, two cabinets and an armoire - were covered in light blue paint.

"Some people would pass because of the paint," Erin wrote, "but I got even more excited because stripping paint and restoring is what I LOVE to do!"

Erin Decided to Strip the Paint From Her Broyhill Brasilia Pieces

After Erin got the furniture home, she got to work by stripping the paint from the top of all four pieces. She did this by simply pouring Klean Strip liquid paint stripper on each tabletop, and then using a wide paint scraper to strip off all the blue paint. The paint came up very easily, revealing a stunning walnut wood beneath it.

Once the surfaces were all stripped, Erin used a brush to apply paint stripper to the sides of the pieces. Then, she used a smaller paint scraper to remove paint from the curved woodwork.

In the comments, people congratulated Erin on the find and applauded her for restoring the furniture pieces to their original wood.

"The way the paint just slides off made me feel things," someone wrote. "Painting walnut mid century modern furniture should be a crime," another commenter chimed in. "Why do people honestly think painting is THE move!??? You did amazing," someone else added.
