Apple iOS 9.1 release brings you a bunch of bug fixes and new emojis, including “the finger”
Apple’s release of the iOS 9.1 update is only a day old but word is spreading like technology wildfire about the many benefits to downloading the update as well as the 150 new emojis that have been added.
Like most of apple’s beta tested updates it is substantial. For starters it addresses glitches with the calendar, game center, app updating, messaging, carrier data and email viewing, downloading, sending and search.
But the icing on the update cake had to be the introduction of 150 new emojis. It has been a few months since a new batch of emojis were released, with the major appeal being able to change characters to imply ethnicity. And though that was a great update, many were upset that one particular vulgar emoji didn’t make the cut. But with the support for Unicode 7 and 8 this new list of emojis will be able to convey more than just flipping the bird.
New images fall under all eight major categories: smileys and people; animals and nature; food and drink; activity; travel and places; objects; symbols; and flags. And it must be said that there is an emoji of a man levitating in a suit that defies gravity and category so he needed to be mentioned. And used.
So plan on using the money-mouth face, nerd, rolling eyes, hug, and thinker often. A few I see being personal favorites are the casket, detective, justice scale, tornado, middle finger, champagne bottle and unicorn head. And the man levitating in a suit. Just because.
