Its a great sign when a food truck gathers a large enough following to open a brick and mortar location.

Corey LaBoo, of LaBoo’s Finest Turkey Wangzzz, is the latest entrepreneur to open a fixed location — at 3908 West Beltline at the end of the month.

As the name implies, LaBoo has made his mark with crispy fried or baked turkey wings and his special dipping sauces. The fried wings, with a sprinkling of lemon pepper, are addictive. Sold separately or in bunches of up to a dozen, “the wangzzz” are perfect for tailgating — if you can bear to share.

Over the past three years, LaBoo expanded his menu to include hotdogs, fried shrimp, and blackened salmon and shrimp tacos, seared salmon on a cranberry salad, six-cheese crock pot mac-n-cheese, jambalaya and Louisiana style red beans and rice. There are even vegan dishes available on Thursdays.

Whatever you do, try LaBoo’s “mudd,” a lemon juice drink not unlike lemonade, but something entirely unique. It really goes well with the wings, and tastes much better than its namesake, we promise.

Although the Beltline location will be take-out only, LaBoo plans on serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. And fans of the food truck need not worry, LaBoo’s will stay on the move.
