New Mexican restaurant in Harbison area has beer in its name but offers much more
It is one of the defining moments of Mexican restaurant dining: When the waiter brings out your complimentary chips and salsa. Ahhh.
That moment is just a bit different at Brothers and Beer II, a new “California-style” Mexican restaurant in the Harbison shopping area.
Instead of salsa, your chips are served with a bowl of creamy bean dip.
As for the salsa? Serve yourself, and choose from five — five! — varieties at the salsa bar to taste while you browse the seven-page menu.
Brothers and Beer II, located at 1270 Bower Parkway, is a spin-off of the original Brothers and Beer restaurant on Columbia Avenue in Lexington.
The menu features a wide variety of Mexican restaurant staples, including several types of enchiladas and burritos, flautas, arroz con pollo, fajitas and more.
Brothers and Beer II is open seven days a week from 11 a.m. until 9 p.m. Sunday through Wednesday and 10 p.m. Thursday through Saturday.

BEHIND THE STORY
MOREWhy we report on business openings and closings
The restaurants, stores and other businesses that come and go in our communities have a direct effect on our everyday lives. Where you’ll take your family for dinner tonight or why your neighbor closed down the family shop — these are conversations you have all the time with one another, and The State newspaper strives to cover the things you talk about and care about.
Reporters at The State regularly drive and walk through local neighborhoods and retail centers to notice openings and closings, check public documents for hints about business moves and — most importantly — talk to our friends and neighbors about what they see, hear and wonder about in the community. Feel free to reach out to our reporters anytime to tell us what you know or ask us what you want to know about local businesses.
