So many hot dogs, so little newsprint.

In light of the news of Sandy’s Famous Hot Dogs restaurants closing, The State compiled a list of some other great places to grab a hot dog in the Columbia area. From Rush’s to Rockaway and many dogs in between, we’ve got a very fine frank scene around here.

We asked you, readers, to let us know who else you’d add to the list. And, boy, did you.

Here’s whose hot dogs you raved about:

Crave Artisan Market, 2843 Millwood Ave.

Reader Harriett said, “It is THE. BEST. HOTDOG. EVER. You need to run get yourself one (or 3). You will not be disappointed!”

The Other Store, 4130 Bethel Church Road, Columbia

Reader W.D. said, “Quite simply, the BEST hot dog in this city.”

Main Street Bakery, 3307 North Main St., Columbia

Reader Debra said, “One beef hot dog (2.50) is plenty but also they offer a combo with 2 hot dogs, chips and a drink for only $8.00. And since it’s a bakery, why not get a cupcake or slice for dessert?”

Halls Chophouse, 1221 Main St., Columbia

Reader George said Halls’ steak hot dog on the lunch menu is Columbia’s best dog “by far.”

The Devine Cinnamon Roll Deli, 2617 Devine St., Columbia

Reader Steve said, “I like their Coney Dog - had one just before Thanksgiving and I want to go back for another right now.”

Cromer’s P-Nuts, 3030 North Main St., Columbia

Polliwogs, 1025 Woodleys Way, Columbia

Reader Jamie said, “And it comes with delicious French fries.”

Silver Fox Grill, 7444 Broad River Road, Irmo

East Bay Deli, 1426 Main St., Columbia; 108 Sunset Court, West Columbia; and 768 Broad River Road, Irmo

Hot Dog Express food truck, near 2104 Wessinger Road, Chapin

Reader Stan said, “It’s a food truck, no phone but the best hot dog around. Anyway you want it. Also, if you want to change up, try the chicken salad sandwich, also the best.”

Lucky’s Burger Shack, 7811 Broad River Road, Irmo

Reader Ben said, “Not just good burgers, good dogs too.”

Sweet Pea’s Ice Cream Parlor, 412 McNulty St., Blythewood

Reader Jamie said, “All beef hotdogs, homemade chili and slaw. I GUARANTEE you will not be disappointed!!”
