Columbia has a slew of outdoor alcohol events coming up

This winter in the capital city has been cold and wet. But once spring has sprung, Columbia residents will have a plethora of opportunities to enjoy a drink outdoors in the sunshine, if the city council takes action this week.

Columbia City Council is slated to give approval on Tuesday to nine different city events to serve beer and wine over the next few months.

With the council’s approval, beer and wine can be served and sipped at all the events this spring within defined areas.

Most of the events will be hosted at the Columbia Museum of Art’s Boyd Plaza. They include:

The “It’s Alive” film series on April 9 and May 14

Trivia Night of the Living Dead on April 16

The Greater Columbia Record Fair on April 26

The permits will also cover two non-museum events hosted in Boyd Plaza

A “heavy metal brunch” hosted by the Free Times on April 25

The Indie Grits Film Festival on March 28

Other events include:

Soda City Spring Yard Sale on April 25. Drinks will be restricted to a designated “biergarten” area. Rain date: May 2.

The annual Artista Vista Arts Festival on April 19.

The Wiese Biergarten Celebration of Spring at Riverfront Park on April 4. Rain date: April 11.

Riverfront Park will actually host the most dates on the calendar for the Rocky Shoals Spider Lily Happy Hours at the Riverfront Park Amphitheater.

The happy hours will take place on April 7, April 14, April 21, April 28, May 5, May 12, May 19 and May 26. Unless it rains, in which case the respective makeup dates are April 9, April 16, April 23, April 30, May 7, May 14, May 21 and May 28.
