Prizes for first customers at opening of West Columbia’s newest doughnut shop
A new Dunkin’ doughnuts shop is opening in West Columbia this week and the first 100 customers will get a prize.
The Lexington-area doughnut shop is at 2871 Sunset Blvd. and will open on Tuesday, according to a news release. That’s across the road from Lexington Medical Center.
In addition to the $3 gift cards, Dunkin’ officials announced an opening month special for medical professionals and first responders at the new location. They can get a free medium hot or iced coffee every Monday from Sept. 28 to Oct. 26.
The opening day festivities will also include a ribbon cutting with local officials at 8 a.m., and other giveaways, it said in the release.
On top of the freebies, the new Dunkin’ is called a “store of the future,” with a welcoming design and innovative technologies, according to the release.
Among the new technology are digital kiosks, where customers can order with or without the help of an employee, Dunkin’ officials said.
The restaurant also has an area dedicated to mobile pickups, for customers who order on an app, according to the release. Customers can track the status of their orders inside the restaurant on a digital status board.
It will also have a tap system that can serve eight cold beverages, in addition to espresso machines, Dunkin’ said.
The store will be one of the first “DD Green” locations in the area, according to the release. That makes “the store more environmentally friendly and sustainable from start to finish, down to the last coffee grind of the day,” officials said.
“We are proud to be a part of Dunkin’s next generation store initiative and can’t wait to bring this innovative new restaurant to the community,” franchise owner Peter Marrinan said in the release. “The new menu offerings and approachable atmosphere will grab the attention of Dunkin’ fans and help keep West Columbia running on Dunkin’ for years to come.”
Founded in 1950, Dunkin’ specializes in hot and iced coffee in a variety of flavors, in addition to baked goods such as doughnuts, bagels and muffins. The company has more than 12,800 restaurants in 44 countries worldwide.
