What is South Carolina’s favorite Thanksgiving dish? Here’s what one analysis says

South Carolinians love collard greens on their Thanksgiving Day plates, while most of the rest of the country prefers carbs alongside the turkey, according to an analysis by Zippia.

Zippia, a career search website, based its analysis on Google search trends for side dish recipes during November 2020. The analysis found much of the country prefers a potato dish or dinner rolls.

South Carolina was joined by Georgia and Maryland, which also preferred collard greens as part of their Thanksgiving dinner, according to Zippia.

The neighboring Tar Heel State was on the carbohydrate bandwagon, too, as North Carolinians disproportionately searched for biscuits.

Nine states prefer mashed potatoes, four states want dinner rolls, two states love their macaroni and cheese, three states want baked potatoes, and three states like side dishes featuring sweet potatoes.

The fine folks of Tennessee and Kentucky preferred something more unique for their Turkey Day sides: hashbrown casserole. And Alaska? Stuffed mushrooms.
