Looking to launch a pizza franchise in the Columbia area? You could soon have your opportunity.

Donatos Pizza, a fast-casual pizza chain known for its “Edge to Edge” pizzas with toppings covering the whole surface of the pie, is looking to expand its presence across the Carolinas and said in a Tuesday release that it wants to bring up to 10 Donatos locations to Columbia in coming years.

Initially founded in Ohio in 1963, there currently are 169 Donatos restaurants across a number of states. Donatos pizzas also are offered in Red Robin restaurants across 13 states.

There are two Donatos locations currently in South Carolina. One is in Boiling Springs and another is in Summerville.

In the Tuesday release, the company said it is seeking multi-unit operators for potential new locations in South Carolina.

“The brand aims to bring up to 10 locations to Columbia and 15 locations to Greenville/Spartanburg,” the release said.

Including a franchise fee of $30,000, the initial investment to own and operate a Donatos restaurant ranges from $360,360 to $697,400, the release said. The average store would be 1,700 to 2,200 square feet and employ about 30 people, most of whom would work part-time. The company said the average sales volume per store nationwide exceeds $1.14 million.
